The January transfer market proves to be a time of intense speculation and potential big-money transfers. Several prominent stars are being linked with moves away from their present clubs. We examine a selection of the key names who might be on the move this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Although Ghana's failure to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, this has left the forward in contention, reports suggest a major move is close. The 25-year-old has a contract with a sizeable buy-out clause active for a short period in early January. Recent reports point to the Premier League champions look to have won the race for his services. Other interested parties such as Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have moved on to other options, leaving clubs like Liverpool or Manchester United to make a last-minute move.

M. Guéhi

This English centre-back has continued to impress for Palace this season a summer move to Liverpool collapsing. As his deal set to run out in the summer, this represents the club's last chance to obtain a fee for their skipper. A host of top sides, including City and several continental powerhouses like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to be interested. However, a winter exit is considered unlikely, particularly given the coach's dependence on the defender.

B. Johnson

The Welsh winger has had first-team opportunities limited at Tottenham this term. Despite finishing as the side's top scorer the previous campaign, Johnson has begun only a handful of Premier League matches. Reports suggest the North London club is open to a sale for the correct price, believed to be in the region of forty million pounds. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also credited with an interest.

R. Neves

The Portuguese playmaker might be poised for a return to the Premier League after a period in Saudi Arabia. Still only twenty-eight, and with his contract ending in the summer, he represents a possible bargain. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool are connected to the player. Furthermore, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he is prepared to take a pay cut for a move to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The experienced German goalkeeper is now as the third option at Barça following the coach Hansi Flick. Having lost his place and undergone surgery, a January exit seems increasingly likely. Villa were once linked as a potential suitor, but that option currently seems unlikely. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly showing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

This proven England centre-forward has kept scoring regularly in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League could enhance his fading chances of making the national squad. Kees Smit

This highly-touted Dutch midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. After starring at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ first team. The teenager is heavily tipped to complete a major transfer in January. Newcastle reportedly are frontrunners, but are facing stiff rivalry from the Spanish champions for a signing priced at approximately £22 million.
